Enjoy a stroll through Seville's living picture postcard.
It may seem strange to include a whole neighbourhood under "things to do", but the Barrio Santa Cruz embodies the Seville that everyone wants to see. It's not hard to get lost in this charming neighbourhood of small squares, narrow streets and orange trees beside the Alcázar, but that's really half the fun. Everywhere you go there is exquisite attention to detail in the architecture and decoration (even the undersides of the balconies are tiled), and the patios and courtyards glimpsed through open doors are endlessly fascinating. Personal favourite places include the Plaza Doña Elvira, with its fountain and tiled benches, and the Plaza de los Refinadores and the statue of Don Juan. Stop for a sherry and jamon and some people watching at Casa Roman in the Plaza los Venerables, or at Vinería San Telmo next to the Murillo gardens.
