A meander around Moraira

Moraira is small enough to stroll and see most of the sites in under an hour, but it’s a pleasing way to pass an evening. The main historic building is the 18th century Castillo, which sits beside l’Ampolla beach. Moraira was, and still is, a fishing village, and many of the tiny, narrow streets of the old town are reminiscent of the old fishing villages of Cornwall. Walk along the promenade and you come to La Longa, the fish market, where every morning at ten elderly ladies and young mums, and the occasional chap, wait for the door to open to buy fresh fish for lunch at the public auction that takes place at that hour.
