One of the most unspoilt stretches of coastline on the western Costa del Sol.

The reason why I love this long, sandy beach between Mijas Costa and the centre of Marbella is that it’s backed by a Mediterranean pine forest and protected sand dunes, giving it a wonderfully chilled, boho vibe. It feels more like a small Greek island than the Costa del Sol. There are only a few low-rise developments in the far distance and a spattering of funky timber beach bars serving drinks and light meals.

It’s kind of split into unofficial sections: families and mixed friends, nudists, and gay nudists.

Price advice

It’s totally free to sun yourself on the beach, but the parking attendant will expect a euro.

Expert tips

If you can, park near on the cobbled road leading down to the beach, and not the lower dunes (which become a car park) – I’ve seen some drivers get their cars stuck in the sand.

The western end (Marbella side) is mainly frequented by gay nudists.
