Nature and design in perfect harmony.

Even if you are not a big fan of deserts and gardens, like me, this cactus garden is still well worth a visit. Another creation of the local designer and architect, César Manrique, this surreal yet exquisite site is covered with more than 10,000 cacti. Manrique cleverly transformed a disused quarry into an amphitheatre with terraces where the prickly plants from the Canaries, the US, South America and Madagascar form a dramatic artwork.

Value for money

Price advice

8 euros for adults; 4 euros for 7 to 10 year olds.

Expert tips

Visit early afternoon to avoid the crowds in summer.

The cacti are not roped off, so young children may have to be carefully watched.
