Javea’s most popular beach.
Javea has ten beaches in all, but Arenal is undoubtedly its most popular. A two kilometere blue-flag beach of fine sand, the gradient as it slopes into the sea is very gentle, so it’s ideal for children. There are a couple of volley-ball nets, and a couple of kiddies plastic climbing frames, but other than that it’s mainly people just having a jolly good day beside the seaside. A prom runs the length of the beach, following the curve of the bay, where promenaders spend their time dodging in-line skaters and skateboarders, while trying to think of witch of the dozens of bars, cafes and restaurants to while away an hour in. As dusk falls on summer evenings and the lights flicker into life, stalls set up shop selling jewellery and other trinkets. This is probably the best time to take an evening paseo.
