Delightful Costa Brava bay near Calella, perfect for kids and boating.
This small, horse-shoe shaped beach is adored by local Catalans, particularly those with small children, as well as being a perennial favourite of Barcelonans, many of whom have holiday homes nearby. The beach backs onto a short car-free, promenade lined with low-rise buildings with good fish restaurants and cafes. (See [node;169366] ). The sand isn’t the smoothest you’ll find but it does mean you won’t spend quite so long washing it off you or your children. I love the way this feels like the seaside, complete with buckets and spades and calamares and chips, but on a very intimate scale. If you’re feeling lively, there’s also a diving centre as well as motorboat and kayak rental and snorkelling.
