Sample the spooky side of historic Bath.

Since the ‘70s guides have been leading groups around Bath and pointing out the ghostly goings on of some of the city’s ethereal residents. There are seven different guides, so each tour is different, but our leader Dave was an animated historian who weaved wonderful ghost tales without playing any tricks or trying to psyche us out. At each stop on the stroll he gave us lively historical information that set the scene; we were introduced to the grey lady that smells of violets and stands in the box at the Theatre Royal, the house in the Circus where the previous owner kept rearranging the furniture because it wasn’t to his taste and the top-hat wearing gent who still has an eye for the ladies passing the Assembly Rooms. The gravel path in Royal Victoria Park was genuinely spooky – look out for the duelling bush!
