Museum Het Schip

- Mid-range

This unusual apartment block is one of the best examples of Amsterdam School architecture.

Heading out of the city centre to visit an early 20th-century social housing block doesn't sound that enticing, does it? But trust me: if you have any interest in design and architecture, you will find The Schip very rewarding. Finished in 1919, the red-brick edifice has waves of decoration on its facades and a funnel-like tower. Your guided tour also takes in the wonderful old post office, and an apartment furnished as it would have been in the 1920s.
