The best shopping area around Playa de Las Américas and Los Cristianos is at the CC Safari (open Mon-Sat 10am-3pm, 5-9pm; Sun 7-9pm) opposite the Mare Nostrum Resort in the heart of Las Américas where you'll find designer outlets sitting alongside Spanish high street names. After dark, dancing fountains at the front of the centre provide a colourful spectacle (displays at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm) to turn parting with your money into an excursion. Next door, the newer Américas Plaza is also worth a browse.
Just about everywhere you go in these southern resorts you'll find the illegal hawkers selling watches, sunglasses and handbags. They are generally good fun and go away with a firm refusal but if you're tempted to buy from them, don't be surprised if the Rolex you got such an amazing deal on stops working before you've even landed back in Blighty.
Los Cristianos has a nice smattering of crafts, fashion and jewellery shops in the streets behind the promenade which are always good for a browse.
On Sunday mornings (9am-2pm) the largest market in the south takes place alongside the Arona Gran Hotel at the southern edge of the resort. You'll find crafts, clothes and artifacts galore.
Playa de Las Americas is in Tenerife. For general advice on shopping in Tenerife, see my Shopping in Tenerife page.
