Lanzarote’s largest resort has its biggest collection of shops. The main street, Avenida de las Playas, is lined with souvenir shops, geared almost solely to tourists, although there are some Spanish clothes shops, such as the popular Zara chain, and a small commercial centre. Look out for the quality of some of these goods and try to seek out some of the locally-made crafts, which can be found amongst the seemingly overwhelming tourist tat. Perfumery and cosmetic outlets offer some very good deals, although do try to check the prices of some of your favourites before leaving home as not all are the bargains they are claimed to be.
On the main road, back from the beach, Biospfera Plaza Shopping Centre (Avenida Juan Carlos I, 15; +34 928 515 320) offers free parking, where the mostly fashion and shoe shops locals and visitors alike. A 10-minute drive to the south, ‘Fashion Walkway’ (Paseo de la Moda) in Puerto Calero behind the marina is lined with boutiques selling designer labels like Ralph Lauren, Armani and DKNY.
