Valletta is quite well served with shops, with the more touristy ones at the City Gate end, local food stores nearer the tip of the peninsula – and all sorts of things in between along and around the main street, Republic Street. There is even a sizeable Marks & Spencer just off Palace Square.
The Valletta market takes place every morning (except Sundays) on Merchants Street, mostly near the junction with Old Theatre Street and around the Victorian covered market. Here you will find everything from T-shirts to batteries as well as lots of food. On Sundays a larger market is held in the ditch of the city’s fortifications next to City Gate.
Valletta is in Malta. For general advice on shopping in Malta, see my Shopping in Malta page.
