Sliema itself is Malta’s “West End” where shopping is concerned. Many recognisable high street chains are here as well as a few elegant - and expensive - independent clothes shops. If you are from the UK, frankly, you are likely to be better off shopping at home unless there is something you need while in Malta. In that case Sliema's two large shopping centres may come particularly in handy.
The Plaza (Bisazza Street, SLM 1640; +356 21 343 832; www.plaza-shopping.com) has everything from La Senza to Mothercare via a Toni & Guy hair salon, Miss Selfridge, Benetton and a branch of Agenda, Malta's main bookshop and newsagents. These last two are also to be found in Malta's largest and newest retail kingdom in the spanking new development on Tigne Point. The Point Shopping Mall (+356 20 655 550; www.thepointmalta.com) has a Debenhams and Marks & Spencer Simply Food, as well as Esprit, Reebok, Crocs, Adidas, Lacoste, New Look, Vodafone and Hilfiger Denim amongst others.
Sliema is in Malta. For general advice on shopping in Malta, see my Shopping in Malta page.
