Valletta does not have ‘nightlife’ in the clubbing sense of the word; in fact it is pretty sleepy after about 9pm. The views out over the Grand Harbour at night, however, are well worth a look and there are plenty of good restaurants. Valletta also has the charming Manoel Theatre (115 Old Theatre Street, Valletta, VLT 1426, +356 21 222 618, www.teatrumanoel.com.mt) with performances most nights (except in summer) and the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity (Castille Place, Valletta, +356 21 223 200, www.sjcav.org) with an ever-changing programme of arts events.
