Food and drink
An attention to detail, and the very best home-made versions of classic Venetian cakes and pastries are guaranteed. The classically creamy ice-cream is all home-made.
I love to drop by here for tea, especially on cold days when the warren of little rooms fills up with young mothers and their cake-munching offspring who can then work off their sugar rush in the campo outside. But there’s always a crowd of locals at the tables overlooking the great church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo at aperitivi time too.
The ladies who serve here are competently brisk.
By the side of the church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, in the northern Castello sestiere.
As always in Italian cafés, prices vary depending on whether you sit (with further variations for inside and out) or consume at the counter.
Rosa Salva has handy, very central branches at Calle Fiubera, San Marco 951 and Marzaria San Salvador, San Marco 5020.
