Food and drink
A lengthy menu of solidly good sandwiches, burgers and breakfasts. Eggs are all organic and free-range, lettuce is organic and toast comes as whole wheat or dark rye. The drinks menus ranges from shakes and smoothies to a decent wine and beer selection (only served till 2am).
I'm a fan of the Ossington Massive - a huge eggs, sausage and peameal bacon option, but the Nighthawk Steak and Eggs with Bourbon Honey Chipotle Dip is a winner, too. The Standard Burger is a straightforward burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle, but it's great.
It's quiet by day, so a good place to bring the kids and devour an all-day breakfast, lunch or dinner. Once the bars start thinking of closing is when the Lakeview comes to life. At 3am or 4am on a weekend night, the Lakeview is hopping.
Service is fine by day, but can be slow between midnight and 5am, depending how many intoxicated Torontonians pile in the doors. Staff can be run off their feet.
On Dundas Street, at the top of Ossington Avenue. Right on the Dundas streetcar route.
