Gluten-free gem in Kensington Market.

One of the city's only dedicated gluten-free eateries, the brightly coloured Cornerstone opened up in 2010 and serves a confident selection of brunches, lunches and dinners. The streetside patio is a particularly charming place to idle away a morning. There's plenty that the non-gluten free can happily devour without feeling hard done by, too.

Food and drink

The entire menu is gluten free! If you're gluten-free like me, this is pretty thrilling news. The menu is great for those with gluten-free kids, too, with a selection that includes mac and cheese, chicken fingers and fish and chips. The grown-ups can choose from sandwiches such as the mushroom melt, BBQ pulled pork sandwich and cheese-setaks, among others. Gluten-eaters might not understand just how exciting it is to eat a sandwich out in a cafe when you're gluten-free, but I can tell you, it really is pretty exciting. Brunch offers include omelettes, French toast and pancakes with potato hash and bacon or sausage.

Recommended dishes

I always opt for something I can't get anywhere else, such as the poached eggs on Russian black pumpernickel bread, French toast or a sandwich. The dinner menu changes regularly.

Ambience

Laidback and sunny outside. Romantic and warm inside.

Service

Helpful, knowledgeable.

Location

At the foot of Kensington Market, just at Dundas.
