Food and drink
It’s pretty much anything goes at Blu Jaz – there’s a wide variety on the menu from beef lasagna to creole chicken to sambal seafood fried rice. I enjoyed the grilled salmon (you can’t really go wrong) while my partner’s fish and chips were fresh and tasty. Don’t expect a mind-blowing gastronomical experience, but this is decent pub food at reasonable prices. You can also get jugs or bottles of beer and they do cocktails and wine too.
This place is hopping on a Friday and Saturday night. There’s a live DJ and you’d be hard pressed to get a seat in the garden anytime after sunset. There’s garden furniture outside, while the lounge areas inside are a haphazard yet charming mix of sofas and tables
I can’t fault the service here. It was crazy busy on the nights we went, but our group got our main meals at the same time (which is a bonus in my book these days!)
Right at the entrance to the historic Kampong Glam district, Blu Jaz’s neighbours are sari shops and trendy independent boutiques and bars. Nearest MRT stations are Bugis and Esplanade.
Most main meals are around $10-20. The food here is good and cheap, which is unusual in Singapore for anything that’s not local or hawker fare. Drinks are standard prices, a jug of Tiger Beer is $20.
