Food and drink
It's Mexican street food but it's created with flair and care. Tortas, tacos and sopas are all featured. The restaurant features Mexican sodas, agua frescas and Mexican hot chocolate.
I liked the pepito torta and the beef brisket was also flavorful and filling; the puerco tacos were a hit with my friend. The chocolate-glazed pork was seamlessly combined with chipotle cabbage slaw.
This is a very casual eatery. It has 35 seats but most people head here for take out. The crowd is mostly bankers and other locals.
Service is pretty efficient. This is a fast food style joint so you expect your food in a timely manner and the waiting staff don't disappoint.
In the heart of the Financial District. The area is devoid of great eateries so Toloache is very welcome.
Everything is priced with a tight budget in mind. Most items are between $3 and $9 so dinner or lunch for two won't set you back too far. It's definitely a place for students or anyone looking to beat the recession.
