Food and drink
Micheal White, the chef here, makes simple dishes shine. Among the standouts are bite-size orchiette in a Sicilian-style ragu and perfectly cooked pork chops made special with a signature salsa verde. The wine list is also impressive with great choices from all over Italy.
The pretty dining room feels spacious but still intimate with plump upholstered red banquettes and light walls with reflective white paint.
The staff are helpful but unobtrusive much like their star chef.
Not far from the United Nations and tucked away in a Tudor City landmark, this quiet gentrified block of New York hearkens back to a bygone era and achitecture.
Starters are a splurge-worthy US$10-$17 and mains are US$26-$33. The four-course US$59 tasting menu is excellent and great value.
Tables to book
I like the corner tables where you can see the room but not feel too exposed.
