Food and drink
The food is hearty and filling. Many of the dishes are family recipes, homemade with fresh ingredients, much of it locally sourced. The café is also known for its great pies.
For breakfast, try the jalapeno cheddar scramble or the banana walnut pancakes. Lunch standouts include the mozzarella and pesto sandwich and Bubby's burger. Don't skip the side orders; the selection has some unusual offerings. BBQ items are offered during dinner.
The ambience offers the comforts of home. It's as if you're in a country kitchen. It can get a bit noisy at brunch, but never obnoxious. It's not unusual to see a local celebrity such as Steve Buscemi or Harvey Keitel. Families pack the tables on the weekends.
Always with a smile. I've never encountered a surly server.
On a quiet stretch of Hudson Street in TriBeCa.
It's relatively affordable. Brunch for two runs to about $50. Dinner is a little more expensive.
The TriBeCa location was so successful the owners opened a Bubby's in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
