Food and drink
Imaginatively filled pies by Pieminister are on offer with a choice of four or five a day. Fillings include chicken, Thai green curry, sweet potato and lime (Thai Chook pie), and goats’ cheese, sweet potato, spinach, red onion and roasted garlic (Heidi pie). There is the option to add mash, gravy or mushy peas as accompaniments for £1 each. The beer menu is much more extensive with the 70 plus beers arranged by country (12 are on draught).
I love the Wildshroom and Asparagus pie and, no matter what, always order the mushy peas with mint and white wine.
Pi is a small local bar that is always busy but I rarely fail to get a seat. The clientele is a complete mix of older couples, young and trendy south Manchester residents and young families enjoying the laid-back atmosphere during the day.
Staff are friendly and enthusiastic about the food and drink on offer. If you smile sweetly, you will be offered free peanuts with every round of drinks that you order.
Pi is on Manchester Road in the south Manchester suburb of Chorlton.
All pies are £4.50 and sides (mash, mushy peas or gravy) cost £1 each.
