Food and drink
Jem & I offers a Modern European menu with creative twists. During the day tapas style food is on offer while in the evening the menu includes classics like fish and chips with Manchester caviar (£10.95), tomato risotto fritter with grilled goats’ cheese, asparagus, roast red peppers, rocket salad and basil dressing (£10.95), seabass with chorizo and patatas bravas on spinach (£16.95) and market fish of the day. Dishes are beautifully presented and, when eating there, I always make a mental note to come more often.
Jem & I has three seating areas for diners – in the bar area, in the small mezzanine seating area overlooking the bar and in the restaurant area looking out onto School Lane. All are done out in red and white with stripped floors and art for sale on the walls. The restaurant gets busy at the weekend so book early to make sure you get a table.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The restaurant is in the centre of the trendy south Manchester suburb of Didsbury. Jem & I is a great dinner choice of you are staying at [node:169011].
Mains range from £10.95 for fish and chips and the vegetarian option to £19.50 for sirloin steak.
Tables to book
For a quieter meal I like sitting in the mezzanine area (there are only tables for two) and watching the diners in the bar area below.
