An old style steakhouse with a sexy, modern vibe.

Steakhouses are big business in Vegas, but while the food’s consistently good, they don’t feel very modern. This is my favourite for presentation – it’s a beautiful restaurant which makes the pricey food worthwhile.

Food and drink

The menu’s not huge but what they have, they do well. Choose from various cuts of steak plus a daily special and then choose your side orders, from chilli-sprinkled green beans to goose fat-fried potatoes – basically a huge lump of roast potato, bound together by crackly goose fat. The meat’s so good here that there’s no need to smother it with sauce. There’s a nice cocktail selection, too.

Ambience

Romantic with a capital R - the room’s dimly lit with black and white photos of old Hollywood stars and red booths, and staff are dressed in an old-fashioned style with white blazers over dark trousers. It’s formal but also pretty sexy - thanks in part to the celebs who roll through the doors.

Service

Very old style – waiters are discreet, but you’ll realise they’re watching you as they rush to refill your glass the moment you finish your water.

Location

On the upper floor of Planet Hollywood casino – it’s technically part of the Miracle Mile shops there.

Price advice

It’s expensive - mains start at US$29 but the cheapest steak is US$52 and you’ll need sides to go with your steak, starting at US$10.

Tables to book

If you want to ramp up the romance, go for a booth.
