Food and drink
Sadly, since Juan José’s last visit the owners had toned down the piquancy of their curry a bit to suit local taste, but that did nothing to diminish the excellent flavour of the Thai red chicken and coconut curry with Basmati rice that we both ordered. Unfortunately, we were both adamant that we wanted the same dish, so I didn’t get a chance to share…but there will be other times. As a starter we shared a beef carpaccio with parmesan cheese, with a sweet mustard sauce, rocket salad and pine nuts. A bit of a classic, but very good, and so was the curry, which had a side dressing of chumper, marinated oriental vegetables. The menu is a fusion of Spain and various parts of Asia, although I suppose you could say that the shrimp cocktail with avocado and whisky sauce had a bit of Scotland thrown in. There are also some good dishes from France, Italy and Scandinavia, and if you fancy something sweet with your morning coffee they serve a mean apple strudle.
Relaxed, made even more relaxing inside by the chill-out music.
Unhurried, which is another way of saying it could be a tad slow at times.
On Dénia’s main shopping street.
There is a good value menu del dia at 12.50 euros.
