A romantic, foodie destination just outside Copenhagen's city centre

Award-winning chef Rasmus Kofoed is well known in town and Geranium has been a big part in making his name in the city and beyond. Recently moved to a wonderful location occupying one of Copenhagen’s most striking dining rooms, overlooking the city’s tree and rooftops and out to the sea, Geranium only serves organic/biodynamic food and wine.

Food and drink

Organic and biodynamic food might sound faddish or even worthy but there's no compromise on culinary ambition here. The focus is on clarity of flavour teased out of the best ingredients. The wine list is neccessarily more obscure than you might find elswhere but the wines I've tried are well up to the mark.

Recommended dishes

The seasonal nature of the menus here means dishes come and go but one stand out for me was the tomato consommé with ham terrine, sorrel and wild flowers.

Ambience

The setting is stunning inside and out. The interior is spare and uncluttered but the florid flourishes of opulence stop it being severe. The views over Copenhagen's trees and rooftops add to the feeling you've escaped the every day while dining here.

Service

The service is as polished as you'd expect for these prices.

Location

A mile or so out of the city centre, you have to make the effort to come out here but it's worth it.

Price advice

Expect to pay serious money to dine here.

Tables to book

In the summer try to bag views out across the city to the sea.
