Food and drink
Perhaps the best homemade ice-cream on the island. There are plenty of flavours to choose from and the option of a cone or a tub; pick a cono, they're also homemade and you can watch as Signora Buonocore pours the 'batter' onto the hot plate from where they're passed through a 'cone-shape-making' device. The signora reckons she makes up to 1,000 of these a day during the summer, and they're quite scrummy. I can't tell you what flavour to go for, but I can say that every one I've tried is divine.
Most of the trade here is takeaway from the front ice-cream counter, but if you want to recharge your batteries before you dive into another shopping spree, there's a lovely tiled interior where you can sit and have a break. I'd recommend a slice of torta caprese (chocolate and ground almond cake) to go with your coffee.
Considering how busy it gets, the staff are very friendly.
You can't miss it: head off from the Piazzetta, down Via Vittoria Emmanuelle III.
A slice of pizza costs around 4 euros; ice creams cost from 2 euros upwards.
