Food and drink
Big breakfasts in the morning are followed up by a delicious lunch menu offering good old burgers, fresh fish dishes featuring Cornish catches and a range of salads, sandwiches and bread & olives. Weekly changing specials often feature good veggie options and fish dishes. There’s a kids menu for little ones.
Big juicy burgers (beef, chicken, spicy lamb, lentil or mushroom) come with fat crispy potato wedges and salad. Veggies should try the squeaky, but delicious, seared halloumi cheese salad with roasted peppers and tomato chutney.
Relaxed mixture of day-trippers and locals on long lunch breaks. It’s a favourite with the Bath Rugby squad, who train and play at the Rec next door.
Bag a table and a waitress will come out – or pop your head in to order. Service is quick and friendly even when it’s busy. At peak times the poor waitress has to fight her way through crowds of tourists taking pictures of the weir.
Walk down the steps from Pulteney Bridge and it’s tucked in the corner overlooking the weir.
Cooked breakfasts costs from £6.50, burgers from £8.95. Ten per cent service charge for groups over six people.
Tables to book
On sunny days it’s nice to sit outside, but try and get a table that’s in the corner, otherwise there will be a constant stream of tourists walking past and gawping at you.
