Traditional tapas with an occasional twist, at the hands of a Michelin-starred chef.

One of the new breed of gastro tapas bars to hit the city, this one has acclaimed chef Carles Abellan at the helm (see also [node:168512]) and is based on the sort of bar that has been sadly lacking for the past couple of decades.

Food and drink

All the classics are present, from patatas bravas to ensaladilla (Russian salad), along with some house specialities like scrambled egg with black pudding. I can’t resist the McFoie Burger – a delicious little slab of beef with foie gras in a bun.

Ambience

Peak hours can be a bit rammed, better to stick to British eating times (before 2pm, and 10pm at night).

Service

Mostly very personable and attentive.

Location

It’s just off the Passeig de Gràcia, so it makes for a useful sightseeing pitstop.

Price advice

Sharing a few tapas with a couple of glasses of wine, your bill will probably come to about 20 euros for two.
