The beaches around Calella de Palafrugell are some of the loveliest on the Costa Brava. You’ve got the long stretch of sand at Calella itself and the smaller beaches and coves nearby, as well as fabulous little bays like Tamariu and Llafranc just a short drive away.
If you like super-fresh fish, you can’t really go wrong around here. Calella and the nearby towns are teeming with brilliant seafood restaurant. But if you’re more of a carnivore there are also plenty of great places to eat, from fine dining experiences and chic, cutting edge destination restaurants, to family-friendly sea-front terraces where you can while away the afternoon.
The stunning coastal walks
The ‘Cami de Ronda’ coastal path snakes along the Costa Brava and winds through the rough-hewn pink rocks, offering some of the most breathtaking views you'll ever see. It’s a gorgeous way to walk from one beach to another and some of the sections only take about half an hour.
One of the best ways to really appreciate the coast around here is to see it from the sea itself and from the nearby beaches of Llafranc and Tamariu you can rent kayaks and motorboats. There’s also diving and snorkelling.
The kids will love it
With such a range of beaches, you’re spoilt for choice. At some of the smaller bays like Tamariu, the restaurants are so close to the edge of the beach you can tuck into some fresh calamares while your kids are only a couple of feet away playing in the sand.
