St. Patrick’s Festival in Dublin

by Sals2

The St. Patrick’s festival starts tomorrow and lasts till the 20th March in Dublin. There are a range of activities happening over the four days including funfairs, music concerts and walking tours. The biggest event of the festival is the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade which will take place at 12.00pm on 17th March starting at Parnell Square and finishing just past St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

The theme of this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival Parade is a short story called “Brilliant” by Roddy Doyle. The story is about banishing the black dog of depression over Dublin and getting the city’s sense of humour back. Companies will have to interpret different parts of this story through their parade performances.

Roddy Doyle’s short story has been used as the inspiration for the Parade to celebrate Dublin’s designation as UNESCO City of Literature.
