Fantastic: it's two blocks to the ferry dock, Union Station, streetcar stops or subway. The CN Tower and ACC centre are walking distance.
I like the sharp contemporary decor in the rooms, which vary in size a bit since it's an older building. There's free in-room WiFi in the 262 rooms and I love the late Sunday check-out option — 5 p.m. — it allows for almost a whole extra day before you have to chuck everything back in the bag.
Public areas are bright, clean and well kept here. The lobby is airy and modern, with comfortable seating areas.
Eating and drinking
My favourite foodie things about the Novotel are the outdoor terrace, the extensive breakfast buffet and the 24/7 room service. There's also the Stage Door lounge and Cafe Nicole — a handy option for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
There's a good stock of leisure options here - a sauna, pool, jacuzzi and fitness facility. There are also play areas for the kids, which is a nice touch.
Service is one area where this Novotel falls down a bit — it can be a bit offhand and disinterested, which is disappointing.
