Great: Right by Ryerson University and the Gay Village, on the College streetcar line, one block from the busy College subway station. It's on the coner of slightly seedy and somewhat drab Jarvis Street and Carlton — it's safe, but not spectacular-looking.
Good: free WiFi and comfortable beds win this one points.
There's a seasonal restaurant bar, seasonal pool, useful 24-hour business centre, saunas and more perks than you'd expect at the calibre of property. The lobby's Tim Horton's coffee and doughnut shop is an extra plus.
Eating and drinking
The restaurant is best for breakfast and is only open seasonally. The Tim Hortons is a more reliable choice, though — perfect for coffee and a snack. Their chilli bowls are my favourite.
The outdoor, heated pool is only seasonally, but there's a fitness centre and saunas for the rest of the year.
Staff are usually pretty nice and friendly.
