On the par 72, 18 hole championship Golf Las Americas course, with direct access to Tee One from the hotel. Although you wouldn't know it from the peace, tranquility and tropical greenery, the hotel and golf course are in the heart of Playa de Las Américas, an easy putt away from upmarket shopping, the pick of good restaurants, nightlife and golden sand beaches.
Rooms are large and airy ,with picture windows, hardwood floors and balconies overlooking the links and swimming pools. Luxurious furnishings are in understated tones of beige and the palest pinks, teamed with ivory walls; furniture is period style and finished in dark wood. Cream coloured drapes over the headboard add a touch of Jane Austen to the otherwise quietly tasteful spaces.
Halls and lounges are characterised by deep chairs and settees that attempt to swallow you whole and are too comfy to leave without a fight. Highly polished tiled floors, low ceilings, occasional tables with lamps and rattan furnished verandas give the air of a colonial gentleman’s club. Outside, tiled courtyards enclose palm trees and patios, while gardens are manicured to within an inch of their lives.

Breakfast is a sumptuous affair of fruits, breads and cereals plus a hot a la carte menu. The ‘Bogey’ restaurant produces classic dishes in its elegant dining room.
The pool area is beautifully serene and when I was there had no more than a handful of people enjoying its terraces and gardens. The elegant spa has a Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath. There's a billiards room - and did I mention the golf course…?
Impeccably professional and professionally friendly. If you’re a golfer, you get preferential and deferential treatment both on and off the course.
