On Madison Avenue close to the Morgan Library (a must see with a new extension by architect Renzo Piano) plus close to the New York Public Library and Bryant Park. This isn't my favorite neighborhood in the city usually but I actually really like this leafy pretty block.
Rooms look fresh and updated after a full renovation by design impresario Andre Putmann. The color palate is simple but pleasing in white and pale gray made warm by fresh flowers and throw blankets and pretty window seats. And the beds are really outstanding. Another plus? The staff is very open to upgrades when there is availability.
The lobby is quite small but there is a very nice lounge sitting area on the 4th floor with free WiFi, magazines, two flatscreens and plush sofas to sit and relax.
Eating and drinking
Asia de Cuba used to be a city hotspot when it opened - Leo diCaprio used to pal around here with his nightlife gang in the 90s - but it's lost its edge a bit. Nonetheless they serve a very good breakfast here now.
Small but good gym with machines by Cybex and nice meeting room that doesn't feel corporate.
Outstanding. I am really impressed at how they have made the service here some of the best in the city.
