Right by Central Park and a close walk to both Manhattan's Midtown East and West attractions.
Nice large and comfortable rooms, especially for the price, are set out to provide a good work center for business travelers with large practical desks, high speed internet, two phone lines and ergonomic Aeron desk chairs as well as leisure ones with plush big beds and large bathrooms. Extras like baby cots and more pillows are easy to arrange and I have found that if I ask for a city view I can get one easily.
The large bustling lobby is a bit too hectic on the weekends when tourists seem to come and sit down for a rest but there are plenty of other spots to hideaway like the new bar, Knafe, that's great for coffee earlier in the day and a cocktail later.
Eating and drinking
Norma's is a pricey restaurant that's good for business meals on an expense account while the no reservations Burger Joint is a city gem, hence the almost constant line to get in - you can get it to go so my husband usually brings a hamburger back to the room at least once when we are staying there.
The gym is excellent though you have to pay a fee for a guest pass. And there is a also a spa.
Although service can get slower on the weekends, for the most part staff are friendly efficient and quick from the check in to cleaning staff and room service.
