On West 56th Street close to Fifth Avenue, you are close to amazing shopping like Bendel's and Bergdorf's, Nike and Chanel, Central Park and most of Midtown's must-sees. But I really like that the hotel has a "downtown" atmosphere while still being in the heart of the city.
Spacious and stylish loft-like rooms with rough concrete walls, huge windows, flatscreen TVs and fun in-room touches like yoga cards to help you practice. The bathrooms are a standout too with big soaking tubs, rainwater head showers and toiletries from Bumble & Bumble. If you can splurge I like the units with the terraces.
The lobby encapsulates the trendy but not pretentious vibe of the hotel with a huge fireplace and plenty of sofas to sit and people watch. The hotel has an amazing original art collection so keep your eyes open for great work from the likes of John Waters.
Eating and drinking
Ma Peche, the Chambers' on site and much anticipated Vietnamese restaurant recently opened and is currently one of the city's best new restaurants (I haven't been but it's on my wish list). The restaurant also provides the room service menu.
There is no gym or spa on the property but they provide passes to a nearby club and can offer in room massages and personal training.
Very friendly staff who are prompt and helpful.
Who stays there
