A beautiful landmark alongside a green oasis.

This imposing hotel, housed in the former American Radiator building, is one of the city’s best properties, particularly now that it has worked out some early days' kinks. I particularly like its proximity to Bryant Park, which makes it feel much more peaceful than most hotels close to Times Square.

Location

Right next to Bryant Park, one of the city’s most pleasant green spaces, it’s the perfect spot for a lunchtime picnic and there is a great free movie series in the park come summer. It’s also right by the Fashion Week tents, which explains the particular buzz the hotel has during the shows.

Bedrooms

Large, comfortable, mostly white rooms come with hardwood floors and lots of light. Some of the best units include a terrace and many come with lovely views of the park.

Public areas

The lobby is a visual standout with its red leather accents and high ceilings - it’s also a good spot for a business meeting.

Eating and drinking

The hotel got a new stamp of approval when it opened an outpost of LA hotspot Koi recently. The Cellar Bar is also a good choice for a pre-dinner cocktail or nightcap.

Leisure facilities

I love the private screening room.

Service

Cheerful, helpful and kind staff are a stand-out.

Who stays there

Fashion hounds, magazine editors and stylish European insiders.
