Moments away from the main town square in Monells, and a 20-minute drive to some of the Costa Brava’s most gorgeous beaches and coves. No less than seven golf courses are within easy reach, and there are also walking and cycling routes nearby. Girona is about half an hour away by car.
The 23 rooms offer a choice of modern or old. The modern rooms on the ground floor of the new annexe are huge, with terracotta walls and simple, modern furnishings, private patios and sun loungers. I personally prefer the rooms in the main building however, which have got original medieval stone walls and much more a sense of the character of the building. All rooms have got wonderfully comfortable beds.
The reception is smart and modern, and there’s a lounge area with multi-coloured sofas under the arches of the vaulted stone ceiling. The gardens, with lawns filled with Cyprus trees, are beautifully peaceful.
Eating and drinking
There’s a generous breakfast served in the café/restaurant, which has an original brick-vaulted arched ceiling. There’s also a modern, more formal restaurant serving locally sourced dishes, overlooking the gardens.
A chic, four-tiered swimming pool as above, as well as extensive grounds.
Owner Josep and his family and staff are all super-welcoming, friendly and helpful. There’s a baby-sitting service on request.
