4 star hotel

4.7

Urban chic tower in the exhibition district of Milan offers amazing value.

What you lose in location, you can gain in space, facilities and affordability as this new hotel proves over and over again. Firmly encamped in the business district rather than the historic centre, this converted 1970s office block, transformed into an urban chic hotel, has space to breathe. The location certainly doesn’t suit everyone, but for those who are prepared to be a little out of the way, it offers amazing value for money.

Location

The hotel is the exhibition district, near the Fiera Milano Rho and the San Siro Stadium. The surrounding area is industrial and it is definitely not as convenient for tourists, but there is easy access to the ring road for drivers, and the hotel runs a shuttle service for guests to local stations. For those who need it, there’s a heliport on the roof.

Bedrooms

There are 162 rooms with a choice of classic, superior and deluxe doubles and triples. They are all well-equipped with the superior rooms having wooden floors, plus stone, glass and steel in the bathrooms. Stylistically it’s not-quite minimalist, with soothing colours. The deluxe rooms come with Nespresso machines. There are a few smoking rooms available.

Public areas

There is space to spare here with a large ultra-modern lounge, coffee shop, bar, garden and fitness centre. The hotel has a business centre and its own underground car park (additional charge).

Eating and drinking

The coffee shop is open all day and you can also get snacks and drinks in the garden. The bar is strongly designed in red and black while the lounge is calmer in creams and beiges. The formal restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a light and airy space with creams and clean lines, surrounded by huge picture windows. There is an excellent hot and cold breakfast buffet included in the room price while later in the day there is a set menu and Italian and international à la carte options.

Leisure facilities

The top (14th) floor of the hotel is taken up by a fitness centre and good-sized pool, both with panoramic views across the city. There is also a hammam, Jacuzzi and sauna. Back down at ground level, there are large wicker chairs out in the garden for drinks, snack and general lounging around.

Service

The staff are still bedding-in but they are friendly and the place is well-run.

Who stays there

There are, inevitably, lots of business and conference people roaming the corridors, but the hotel is also good for football as it’s close to San Siro, and attracts quite a few groups. Because it has the pool and coffee shop, it is also a good option for families.

Price advice

This hotel currently offers some of the best value in Milan for those who are prepared to be a little out of the way. There are also plenty of special packages from weekend deals to football, shopping and advance booking offers.
