The hotel is located on a quiet street above the Rio Real Golf Course. It is less than 10 minutes' drive from Marbella town centre and the beaches, but feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the coast.
With only four bedrooms and a master suite, the hotel has an intimate feel. Each room is individually decorated in warm colours along an Asian theme, with stunning prints and cushions. Four have sea views and one offers a garden view. They come fully equipped with all the usual amenities, plus fine Japanese toiletries and a chocolate on your pillow. The luxurious suite boasts a large private terrace, a Jacuzzi, computer, printer and even a scanner.
Once through the magnificent foyer you enter into the world of the Orient. The hotel boasts a large sitting room with an inviting fireplace for winter, a terrace with comfortable white sofas, a Jacuzzi, a pool overlooked by an Oriental statue, a stunning roof terrace with panoramic views, a dining room and a steadily growing wine cellar, which I enjoyed poking about in.
Eating and drinking
All meals are specially made to order. And although at lunch and dinner there is only a limited menu, Francisco will do what he can to accommodate any wishes you have. There are some great wines to wash it all down with. Enjoy full English or a lighter, more continental, breakfast on the terrace with stunning views.
There is an outdoor pool with views of the sea. For those feeling energetic there is a small gym downstairs or you can partake of a variety of massage treatments provided by qualified spa therapists. The Rio Real golf course is next door.
The team of staff has to be one of the things that make this place so special. Without being overbearing, Francisco, his wife Coti and the wonderful owner Mercedes will make you feel totally and utterly spoiled. We had become firm friends by the end of my stay.
Who stays there
The hotel attracts a mix of northern Europeans, with some travelling from further a field. It’s perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway or anyone wanting a spot of golf.
