Star rating:
5 star hotel

4.8

Exclusive resort that recaptures the heyday of Marbella's golden era.

Created by Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe, this long-established resort – one of Marbella's oldest - is full of history and character, and harks back to the golden era of the 1960s. You still get the sense that this is the place where everybody who is anybody comes to be seen. A resort more than a hotel, the expansive and fabulously tended grounds run down to the beach making you feel more isolated than you really are. And although surprisingly close to the main road, you don’t hear any traffic. I love the fact that you can walk straight from your room onto the beach through the grounds.

Location

The beachfront resort is located in pole position on the heart of Marbella's so-called 'Golden Mile' between Marbella and Puerto Banus.

Bedrooms

There are a total of 84 rooms and 37 suites, all hidden away in the lush gardens designed by the now-deceased prince himself. With neutral colours and Mediterranean-style interior designs, they are incredibly comfortable, as one would expect from the price. Best of all are the 14 Andalucían-style whitewashed villas, with their own gardens and pools that make the resort feel less like a hotel and more like a small village.

Public areas

The hotel is not new but is very well kept and has an air of class and sophistication.

Eating and drinking

The hotel boasts an elegant piano bar and six restaurants - the Beach Club buffet, the Grill, the MC Café, which is one of the top places to be seen on the coast, the brand new MC Beach, the Pool Bar and, the Golf Resort Club House restaurant - which means whatever your mood you are sure to find something suited to your taste.

Leisure facilities

As well as two heated swimming pools and the beach club, the resort offers the incredible Marbella Club Thalasso Spa, a nearby golf course with shuttle service, and a kids' club during school holidays.Guests can also use the tennis and fitness club, located at the nearby Puente Romano Hotel.

Service

The staff are very professional - offering a courteous and helpful service befitting of a five-star resort.

Who stays there

The great and the good have stayed at Marbella Club, including Michael Jackson, Sean Connery and Penelope Cruz. This hotel is suited to everyone, from couples to families, and whether on golf or business trips. It's particularly popular with English and Germans.
