Star rating:
4 star hotel

4.3

Smart, locally-owned chain on the cliffs of Lluc-Alcari.

Renovated in 2004 this small-scale, modern resort is a good choice if you're looking for an-everything-under-one-roof package. It doesn't have a huge amount of character, but its cliff top perch and pool more than makes up for this. There are few options like this in the area, so getting the best of both worlds – the ruggedness of the Sierra de Tramuntana and the ease of a resort especially if your travelling with kids – is a bonus.

Location

The hamlet of LLuc-Alcari is about five minutes drive from Deià and 15 minutes drive for Sóller. It's best known for the monastery of Lluc, located on one of the highest points of the island offering spectactular views out to sea. From here you can also hike into Sóller along a well-worn cliff path.

Bedrooms

Like most chains, the décor is standardised (superior rooms are a bit more exciting), but they are light and airy, clean and comfortable. The best standard doubles have sea views and it’s worth requesting these when booking. You’ll pay a little extra for it. The property also has two superior rooms with their own terrace (make sure you order breakfast on it one day, makes you feel terribly spoiled), and driftwood benches that add a splash more personality. The master suite also has a lounge area (a good choice if you are traveling with kids).

Public areas

Plenty of space here for not feeling hemmed in, or like you have to spend all your time in your room, spread across various gardens and terraces and sprawling out in the surrounding woodland. Inside its feels a bit more institutionalised but there are plenty of armchairs and sofas for playing cards, or just sitting and reading. And there’s a computer with Internet for guests.

Eating and drinking

As-much-as-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, plus decent lunches and dinners. There’s a more groovy feeling lounge bar for drinks and snacks, personally though I like to take my G&T on the terrace.

Leisure facilities

Clifftop swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, bicycles for guests.

Service

Friendly and very professional, problems get dealt with immediately.

Who stays there

Families and older couples, plus anyone just looking for an easy, uncomplicated holiday.
