Close enough to just hop across the road for a quick dip at the iconic Las Salinas beach, but far enough to be removed from the hectic pace in the peak of summer. Also in the middle of the nature reserve - it’s nothing but lush greenery and blue skies as far as the eye can see.
Simple and stylish is how I’d describe the 11 light, bright and airy bedrooms; I think the term "hostal" is quite the understatement. Tiled floors keep you cool in summer and the modern bathrooms are stocked with custom-made beauty products, created using salt directly from Ibiza’s famous salt plains right behind the hotel. I’m not ashamed to say I took them with me when I checked out! Rooms on the second floor boast the best views.
There’s WiFi out on the spacious, sun-drenched and comfortable terrace, making it the perfect place to eat while checking your emails if, like me, you find it hard to leave your work at home. Because the hotel is so small, it’s easy to retreat to your own corner or mingle at the outdoor bar, however the mood takes you.
Eating and drinking
The restaurant is open to the public and I love the variety and consistent high quality of the food. Buffet breakfast in the morning, traditional tapas buffets in the afternoon, Mediterranean menus for lunch and dinner and my favourite: awesome hearty barbecues on the weekend, all devoured in the open-air surroundings of the terrace. Bonus - they do brilliant takeaway packs for the beach too.
There’s a very small retro-style above-ground pool, great to cool off with a plunge after walking back from the beach, and a sun bathing area on the raised level of the garden, with beautiful views of the nature reserve. Saturday afternoons sees the terrace become a Flamenco fest, as part of it is taken over by performers.
Above and beyond the call of duty, 24 hours a day. Super-cool and chilled out owners Duesi, Anita and David know just about anything, everything and everyone on the island and will have you feeling like a true local by the end of your stay.
Who stays there
Plenty of visiting DJs – clubbers, prepare to be star struck! You'll also find clued-up European travellers looking for a hip new hangout, plus plenty of London party peeps, and loads of friends and family from the expat community, as locals (including myself) highly recommend it.
Buffet breakfast is included in the price, however there is a minimum of five nights' stay or a higher room rate is charged. Great winter rates.
