Situated in the sleepy village of San Llorenzo in the island’s north, Atzaró is a good half an hour drive from the airport - quite a distance by island standards - with nothing but farmland and mountains as far as the eye can see. I’d say you should hire a car unless you plan to stay ensconced within the hotel for your entire holiday (not a bad idea), as accessibility to beaches, shops and the island’s famous nightlife is limited, unless you don’t mind shelling out for taxis. Just off the infamous San Juan “Restaurant Road”, there’s no shortage of great places to wine and dine, it’s worth exploring to get to know the local surroundings, plus meet the colourful characters who reside up north.
Balinese-style furnishings such as ornate wooden carved four-poster beds, with Oriental, Moroccan and African accessories throughout. Rooms are large, have high ceilings, thick walls and have been renovated to incorporate modern, spa-style bathrooms well stocked with lush local beauty products by Campo De Ibiza. There’s an assortment of pillow styles to suit all tastes plus branded sarongs for poolside lounging that you’re welcome to keep upon checkout. Flat screen televisions are standard, though only local channels are available, as is WiFi, a mini-bar and that five-star must-have, oversized fluffy white robes.
The rustic, Ibicenco style of Atzaro makes the hotel reception area feel like you're lounging around in someone's big comfy home, a feeling that continues all around the hotel with big wooden day beds and plenty of chill out areas.
Eating and drinking
Casual by day, fine dining by night, Atzaró Restaurant is half enclosed, half terraced, depending on whether you want to dine al fresco or experience a more intimate, candlelit vibe inside, offering international cuisine with a Mediterranean flair at suitably high-end prices, with an extensive wine list to match. Poolside and room service menu offers standard snacks and light meals. Spa menu offers healthy alternatives at reasonable prices. Champagne and cocktail bars open late for night owls.
World-class Balinese-style spa facilities including steam room, swimming pool, yoga studio, gym and health bar, open to island residents and general public. Plus a Champagne bar called "Bubble Bar" presenting twice-weekly fashion shows on a custom-built runway beneath the stars.
Top notch – attentive staff know what you need even before you do!
