Ten Hill Place Hotel

Address: 10 Hill Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9DS, United Kingdom

Star rating:
3 star hotel

4.1

Owned by The Royal College of Surgeons. The best value boutique hotel in town.

Ten Hill Place is adjacent to, and owned by, The Royal College of Surgeons, which is the oldest medical corporation in the world. People travel from all over the world to study in this historic setting and then, surprisingly, they built a modern building right next door and opened a hotel. For some reason, the contrast works. The accommodation is shiny, new and modern and also adjacent to [node:171369], a unique and top attraction in the city.

Location

On th south side of the city but not out of the way at all. Just across the road from The Festival Theatre and, in addition to [node:171369], the National Musems are minutes away. Princes Street and The Royal Mile are also no more than a three-minute taxi ride. Bars and restaurants are also plentiful around here. It has everything you need on your doorstep.

Bedrooms

The 78 rooms come in three different categories, depending on size and how much you want to pay. They are fairly standard in their decor. There is exactly what you need but no more, and value like this is hard to beat.

Eating and drinking

12 noon to 9.30pm all food is also available as room service.

The cafe bar is licensed until 3am.

Service

Generally good but there have been rumblings of slowish service. I shall report back. You could do a lot worse.

Who stays there

Travellers who like good value and aren't looking for luxury; those who just need somewhere to rest their weary head after a long day out exploring the city; and, of course, medical students!
