Moments from Waverley Station, in the centre of George Street, known as the Bond Street of Edinburgh. An easy walk, even in stilettos, to anything and everything. Of course you are already staying in party central but if you want to shop, eat and then party some more there are endless choices on your doorstep.
Where to start? Each one is themed on a different destinations and they really go for it. They really are fabulous in their own way; it really depends on what turns your crank. The superior rooms are themed on Miami, Havana, Barcelona, Rio, St Petersburg and Beijing; the executive rooms are based on Milan, Paris, Reykjavik, London, Dublin and Atlantis; and the junior suites take inspiration from New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, Tokyo, Cairo and Marrakesh. To give you an idea of how they interpret a theme: Rio has a vast glass wall artwork of the famous Rio de Janeiro statue of Christ the Redeemer, New York is like a brick-walled apartment and LA has a white leather padded headboard and wall to wall pictures of Hollywood stars.
Basically, if you remember the show Fantasy Island, rest assured it still exists and this is it.
Paris, on the first floor, is in the style of a modern grand salon and serves top cocktails, it's open until 1am. Vienna, also open until 1, features a massive island bar. Milan has vast ceilings, leather swivel chairs and yet more opportunities to eat and drink. This is where your breakfast is served - whether or not you've been to bed. Food is served in all three venues until 10pm. The Shanghai Club - all dark, red, reflective surfaces and on the garden level - is open every night til 3am.
