Perfect. Two minutes walk from Waverley, the main train station, one minute from the Royal Mile and three from Princes Street: you couldn't be better placed for exploring the city.
Ok, so they lack originality but they are bright, functional and clean as a whistle. Rooms will take up to three adults too so ideal if you are having a girls/boys weekend away.
Large open reception area for hooking up with friends; there's an unremarkable bar.
Eating and drinking
The bars and restaurant have the look of IKEA blonde wood but you are just a step away from some great places to eat and drink, so out you get! Exit the front door to your left and across the road is the Fruitmarket Gallery (www.fruitmarket.co.uk), which serves superlative lunches, coffee and cakes and art of course. Exit the front door to your right and you will find [node:167496] one of the best French bistros in town that features in my best restaurants in Edinburgh page. There that's your starter for ten.
But if that all sounds too confusing you obviously need a coffee. The in-house coffee shop Il Barista offers a good selection of decent coffees so you can get your caffeine hit here.
Young, informed and friendly.
