Just opposite Haymarket Station, perfect for Murrayfield Rugby Stadium and Tynecastle Football Stadium as well as EICC, business district and shops. Having said that it is no more than a 10 minute walk to Princes Street and the centre of the city.
The 66 rooms all well designed, modern, sleek, nicely furnished and comfortable. Splashes of red, dark wooden bedheads, carpeted floors, prints on the neutral coloured walls and nice white towels. There's free WiFi and 24 hour room service.
Eating and drinking
Metro West End Bar & Restaurant serves food from noon - 10pm in a relaxed, bright airy space, though it lacks character. It's perfectly OK for breakfast but I would venture further afield for better choice and atmosphere. A great wee restaurant called La Bruschetta (www.labruschetta.co.uk) is a moment's walk away on the same side of the road on the way into town, as is the ubiquitous Starbucks.
You can get married here, they have a license just in case you feel like it.
They're a friendly lot at the Apex European and room service is available 24 hours a day. You get a complimentary newspaper too.
