Address: Istedgade 6-8, , Copenhagen, 1650, Denmark

Star rating:

2.8

Scruffy but clean and very cheap no frills accommodation close to the main train station.

It says a lot about how expensive Copenhagen is that travellers rate the Nebo so well on websites like Tripadvisor. Let's be clear: this is a very basic place with little charm, smallish rooms and budget rooms without ensuite bathrooms, but it is very competitive, especially for groups of four or five who don't mind rooming together.

The Nebo has plenty of competition these days from (relatively) cheap budget newcomers such as the [node:171085] or [node:170758], but it's still worth considering for its central location and its rock bottom rates. Personally, travelling alone or as part of a couple, I would go for the smarter, more modern budget newcomers but if you're in a group or you really are counting the pennies and don't mind basic accommodation without resorting to hostels, then the Nebo is a reasonable bet.

Location

The Nebo is very well located close to the main train station. It is also in the slightly sketchy red light district and in a bit of a late night party zone so it's lively but can also be noisy.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms range from pretty decent if slightly bland rooms with ensuites to some rather more boxy ones with shared bathrooms. These are generally clean and there are enough of them for you not to have to wait in line to use them. The WiFi is, rather meanly, pay by the minute.

Public areas

The public areas are functional and not really places to linger in, but then this is a no-frills place.

Eating and drinking

The breakfasts, suprisingly perhaps, get good reports. The hip new eating and drinking venues of the meat-packing district are close by and there's a good choice of ethnic supermarkets and inexpensive fast food places on the doorstep.

Leisure facilities

There are no leisure faciltiies in the hotel but the DGI Byens swimming pool and leisure centre is close by.

Service

This is a generally well run hotel although don't expect five star service.

Who stays there

Budget travellers, especially groups.

Price advice

The rooms come especially cheap it there are more than two of you. If you don't mind shared bathrooms, the non ensuite rooms are very cheap.
