While it’s a 45-minute drive or a train ride into Milan from here, the chief reason for staying here is that it is incredibly convenient for Malpensa Airport, which is only 2km away, so it’s perfect for inconvenient flight times. The hotel runs a free shuttle service to and from the airport between 6.30am and 9.30pm. It’s also convenient for exploring the lakes, with Maggiore and Varese only 30 minutes' drive away.
There are only eight rooms. They are fairly basic and anonymous, with pastel walls, wood floors and cream fabrics, but they are comfortable, scrupulously clean and have all the bells and whistles, such as a TV, fridge, safe, WiFi etc. This isn’t luxury, but it will do very well. Some rooms have balconies and there are great views across to the Alps.
The hotel is no architectural gem – it’s modern, boxy and a wee bit bland, with some armchairs in reception and a small breakfast room/bar area and verandah if you want to sit around and be sociable. You probably will, because it has heart.
Eating and drinking
The hotel is bed and breakfast only, but there are several good restaurants locally and there’s a free shuttle service to and from the hotel so you can have a glass of wine with your meal. Breakfast is continental, but plentiful, with pastries home-baked by Simone’s mother.
Nothing other than the possibility of a drink on the verandah (bring your own bottle).
Simone and the staff go out of their way to create a homely atmosphere, ferrying guests around the area, sorting luggage, information and tickets. Excellent!
